Harrish Mahendran opted to go to university straight after completing school but realised after six months that it just wasn’t the right fit for him. He wanted to explore a career in electrical work and was drawn to the Prelude to the Future 6 Program, which offered hands-on experience in various areas, including electrical, industrial, commercial, domestic, and applied technologies.
Thanks to the structure of the Prelude to the Future program, Harrish completed his studies within six months and then began full-time employment with SAGE Automation, where he is continuing his Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician.
He finds the work particularly engaging, especially the technical aspects of switchboards and programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Harrish is genuinely excited about the possibilities that his apprenticeship holds for the future.
