Jude Packer is currently completing his Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician, hosted to Mech Elec NT Pty Ltd. He joined the Prelude to the Future Program 6 last year to pursue his goals and bring his ideas in the electrical trade to life. Growing up surrounded by tradies, he was always inspired to follow in their footsteps and this program gave him the perfect platform to do just that.
With some trade experience already under his belt, Jude was keen to build on his knowledge and continue developing his skills. So far, he’s had the chance to work on exciting projects, including terminating high-voltage cables, working FIFO, learning about high-voltage systems and working with gas turbines.
The support and mentoring he received during trade school made a big difference and it gave him the confidence to step into this role ready to succeed. The extra tickets and licences he gained during Stage 1 of the program were a huge bonus. Jude was also selected as one of the Program Leaders, providing him with additional professional development opportunities.
Jude’s advice for anyone thinking about applying for the next Prelude to the Future program?
